![]() Rainy days following another rainy day, as I have battery enough for two or three days on my 215 A-H of FLA above 50% SOC. I only close the switch when I know the house battery is in need of charge and there is little chance of having the solar provide it. No you can leave the switch closed all the time if you want to use the alternator each time you run the van, the interconnection will close when the van is started and will open when the van is shut off. Switch closed and the key on- batteries are connected and the house battery can give the starter an emergency shot’O juice.īefore solar we all ran in mode 2&3 all the time and folks w/o solar can do that now.ĭidn’t I give you this advice before? CRS on my part.Ĭlick to expand.Sorry Julie I thought we had covered it, my bad. Switch closed and the van running- this charges BOTH batteries according to the output and program built in to the alternator, with assist for both batteries from the solar.Ĥ. Switch closed van not running- This has the solar charge the house battery and not use the starter battery.ģ. This should be your normal mode and both batteries get the charge that is perfect for them.Ģ. Switch open (no current to the solenoid)- Starter battery is charged when the van runs and the solar charges the house battery. When you replace the diode type just be sure you have a switch in the circuit that closes the relay on the solenoid. The solenoid (relay) type will give the greatest flexibility and will charge one or both batteries. The part about loosing the ability to charge from the alternator is not true. ![]() ![]() IMHO-It should be changed no mater whether it is good or not.
